Community Grant Recipients 2020

COMMUNITY GRANTS – In 2020, the Northwest Oklahoma Osteopathic Foundation awarded community grants, totaling more than $30,000.  The YWCA’s Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program   The SANE program focuses on providing exams and support services for victims of sexual assault and rape.  The YWCA trains volunteer advocates to accompany the victim in their time of need.  The YWCA can also supply clothing, medication and counseling to victims.INTEGRIS Bass Baptist Health Center -  This grant helped remodel four rooms into small apartments for medical students to use while they are completing rotations. Many students have reported that the rooms are some of the nicest accommodations they’ve seen while rotating.Denny Price YMCA  -   The grant will be used to help purchase playground equipment for the Child Watch Program.4RKids - The grant will provide fidget kits to be carried on fire trucks and in police vehicles to ease the anxiety in individuals with autism, sensory needs and disabilities, who are in an emergency situation.  The NOOF awarded more than $30,000 in community grants this year.  Loaves and Fishes – This grant was used to purchase an automatic external defibrillator (AED) unit.  The unit will provide an extra measure of safety for the clients, volunteers, and staff. Hope Outreach’s Earn as You Learn Program  -   Through this program, struggling parents can earn vouchers to spend at Hope Outreach’s Baby Store by attending classes that equip them with good parenting skills.  Topics range pre-natal care through adolescent issues. The Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)  The grant will support the RSVP Emergency Fund which helps seniors in crisis.  It might be as simple as providing blankets or groceries, or as complex as helping a senior find resources for long term care or searching out other assistance programs. Youth and Family Services  - This grant will support a Physical Education Program for students who attend the Champions Program at Glenwood Elementary.  Champions is a program designed to help students who have extreme difficulty with schools due to mental health symptomology, trauma exposure or the inability for emotional regulation.
